I really don't like writing lemons. I dunno exactly why, but it's just kinda weird for me. Maybe it's cuz I'm a perfectionist, and my lack of experience in that matter is hindering me, but lack of experience doesn't seem to hinder any other fan writers. *glares at the shipping crowd*
I'm confused at what makes a good lemon. No one seems to talk about this, so I'd also like to open up the forum to discuss this as well. Believe it or not, I think about these things when I have nothing better to do (which is quite often, sadly). _________________ The highway is alive tonight

Lemons do get annoying if you've written a few already.
At first, I guess we're all embarassed to start, so that's the hardest challenge to get over.
I've lack of experience in this area, so the way I found out even how a lemon "works" is through other fanfictions. First, the plot or basic "structure" of a lemon is mostly the same, but after you get the hang of it, you can add other stuff or switch things around and edit your characters into the plot you had planned [if that makes any sense].
I'm a perfectionist, but I suppose, you practice for this "experience"? If you're not confident with the 1st lemon, it's alright to not post it. Read other fanfictions that have a lemon and edit gradually add edits to your original and perfect it.
I don't really think there is a right or wrong to lemon writing. I suppose what some want is a graphic lemon, while some others would like to have a hint of lemon. It depends. However, if you place your story under "graphic lemon" or something to that extent, it has to be "graphic" and descriptive, that will make the "graphic lemon" a good lemon. _________________ The only thing that is separating me from total happiness is reality. |

I agree with fuyuko, entirely.
It was really hard for me to write my first lemon, but since I was RPing while writing it, with another person on the other end, that made it a bit easier. Of course, it took maybe a month to finish because I had to keep saying "omg my mums home g2g bye!" when my face got too red.
I think the only way for someone to ever really get accustomed to writing lemons (and writing them well) is practice. And a good imagination, because if you can't change things up a little bit from other authors, it'll just wind up sounding exactly like everything else that's been written and that makes the lemon a bit more sour.
Sorry if that didn't make sense. x_x |

I was referring to my lack of experience in RL.
Having virgins write lemons is a recipe for ruin. _________________ The highway is alive tonight

Not necessarily. I mean at first, yeah, but after you get used to writing/reading lemons, it becomes easier to imagine.
I mean, I'm a virgin (well....I consider myself one, despite a few things) and I'm not too bad at writing lemons. I tend to avoid them like the plague, but when I do get down to the nitty gritty, so to speak, I'm not bad.
So, I guess it all just depends on like...I guess how comfortable you are with the whole sexuality thing. Maybe.
I don't know, if that was offensive, I apologize. |

Yes, I agree with sacryde.
I'm a virgin, too. I haven't even had a boyfriend before, so I'm not sure how any of that works in real life, but then if you can kind of get the form down from other people's lemons, then you should be fine for writing them. I suppose the more you know about lemons, the more you can change things around to make them more different.
Like sacryde said, I guess it's just how open you are to these kind of things. _________________ The only thing that is separating me from total happiness is reality. |

Believe me, comfort about sexuality has got nothing to do with it. I'm as depraved of a bisexual as they come
The problem I have is that a lot of virgins view sex through rose tinted glasses. It's not they're fault, it's more the way sex is depicted in media. It's romanticised, and there are so many cliches attached to the depiction of sex in a lot of media.
And don't apologise! Be more confident! If someone does find it offensive, apologise then! _________________ The highway is alive tonight

Really? I never thought the media made sex seem romanticized at all. At least, not from what I've seen and noticed.
To me, it seems like they just play it down. Like it's something EVERYONE does and if you're still a virgin then you should just shut up and get it over with. The way nearly everything in advertising has to do with sex also adds to that; it makes it seem ordinary. Like you're strange if you haven't done it.
I don't know, that may also be because none of my friends are virgins and they just talk about sex like it's nothing special. Unless they're talking about their fetishes, in which case...yeah. I won't even go there.
And thank you. I'm working on the whole confidence/apologizing too much thing. It's just a hard habit to break, like most of those nasty bad habits. |
